Creative Play - Enamels

I had a fab day yesterday with friend & artist Sue Brown at her studio in Cheltenham. She has recently been experimenting with enamels rather than printmaking, which is her usual discipline, & has a small kiln of her own which I was able to use ( a little warm yesterday!).
I've never worked with enamel before as when I was studying for my degree there was no tutor to teach the skills required!
It was lovely to have a little go with Sue's help, inspiration & knowledge! I'd taken some of my etched copper pieces along with me so I had a starting point. I think I'll like to just use plain pieces of copper next time (here's hoping there will be a next time!?) & create more random patterns?

Art in Action pictures

I'm back in the studio today after exhibiting in Oxfordshire at Art in Action. I'm feeling pretty worn out so thought I'd catch up on paperwork etc today.

The show was very busy & I didn't really get a chance to look around at all - which of course is a good thing as I was there to show & sell my work not spend it!!

I haven't any more shows until 21st August in Cheltenham so time to plan new things....

The following pictures are the stands next to us in the same row!

Penny doing to last minute adjustments!

Penkridge Ceramics next to us...
They make life studies in clay & metal including fruits, vegetables, horse chestnuts & acorns. Each piece is individually glazed & hand painted. The pieces really are amazing!
They had a very busy show!

Jeff Soan's wooden creatures....
I have some of the small fish which move magically....

Kilner Jars

Yesterday I was cleaning some very old Kilner jars which used to be my grans. I've a plan to fill them with my found treasures of shells, feathers, pebbles etc...more on that another day!
I thought the lids looked interesting with the various states of rust on them!

Robert Race exhibition

I had a lovely day on Saturday in Cirencester....
Me & mum went to see The Mechanical World of Robert Race at New Brewery Arts. It's a fab exhibition which runs until 31st August...so well worth a visit if you get the chance!
We had great fun winding all the handles & making the pieces 'dance'
The little mice reminded me of the mice on Bagpuss?

These paintbrush people were some of my favourites!

This one is called 'Watching the girls go by'...

I was so tempted to purchase one of the little pecking birds! When you squeeze the peg the bird pecks the acorn dish....
