First Furry Arts Trail Visitor.....

Studio looking spic and span...doors open ready for visitors...turn my back & who should appear???

Obviously the local squirrel population is booming due to my constant bird feeding at the studio!

This little critter was very cute so I did allow him/her a few tasty treats!

Vale Arts Trail

Had a lovely day today....

visited a couple of the artists taking part in the Vale Arts Trail (we had intended to visit more but after a huge lunch we rather ran out of stream!)

The first studio was exhibiting the work of Leigh Charman in Conderton (never been to village before - very pretty Cotswold Stone buildings). We had just bought one of Leigh's prints via the Worcester Arts workshop but had not met Leigh before. He was very welcoming & it was fab to be able to watch the birds in his beautiful garden, including a rather splendid Mr Pheasant with one of his female admirers! We got very close to some of the feathered visitors as there was a green finch inside the studio which we set free when we arrived!

I can feel a collection coming on as now we also have 'The Visit' on our wall & rather fancy 'Where's George' next..... just as well The Lilac Gallery is open at other times too.

The Visit

In a Beautiful Place

Our next visit was just down the road to see Toff Milway's pottery studio. WOW! What an amazing setting - stunning. Again Toff was extremely welcoming & let us 'rummage though his cupboards & drawers' which felt very naughty....but we found the super little faceted dish hidden at the back of one such place.

The small plate with the leaf pattern appealed staright away...I'd really like the large version but this one will keep me going for now!

Conderton Pottery is open all year not just during the trail so I think we will be visiting again.

Showing Off Pictures

Just a few pictures of my stand at Showing Off in Ludlow over the weekend. I was pleased with the space & how the metalwork looked against the white boards. A fairly well attended event with sales made & some possible commissions.

A day off today & we're going to visit some of the studios taking part in the Vale Arts Trail 21st May - 30th May. It will be interesting to see what other artists are up too before our own Worcestershire Arts Trail this weekend!

Etching Artwork completed

Finally finished the artwork for my latest etching sheet last night...

I have a commission for a wall plaque using ivy leaves & a wren which I'm looking forward to completing.

I think the introduction of little birds onto some of the leafy wall decorations will enhance the pieces.

The red lines will be the surface etch & the black will be the cut outline.

As soon as I receive them back from the etcher I'll post further pictures!

Birdie artwork

I've been working on some artwork this afternoon for some new etching....

I have a commission for a wall plaque incorporating ivy leaves & a little wren. It got me thinking how nice it would be to include some birds on my latest leafy wall pieces. I will start with these designs & if they prove popular perhaps also do a chaffinch/sparrow/blackbird!
I have plenty of ivy in my garden for inspiration so hope to get the etching done soon.

Little dog brooch

I've just completed this little dog brooch for a commission

he's loosely based on a jack russell with some artist license!

Made from oxidised copper & brass. I usually leave the cats & dogs to my friend & colleague Penny Williams...but this was a one off. I also have to make a boxer dog brooch later this month for another customer.
