Christmas cards!

It really is too much to be making Christmas cards
when it's 28 degrees in the studio!!!

Sumptuosity stock at studio....

I had a delivery of work from the fab Sumptuosity today.  I've stocked their lovely brooches & mirrors for some time & they make idea little gifts.  I thought I'd make a start with the Christmas prezzie ideas.....
with prices from £4!

I particulary like this one......

Oak Leaf pendant

Oak leaf pendant in oxidised silver commission

Wednesday, 21 September 2011

Yesterday I finished the colouration & lacquering of this commissioned piece.
It is one of the largest triple panels I have made so far measuring approx 65cm x 70cm.

The bronzing technique on the copper & brass really helps to highlight the etched details.
I've enjoyed making these wall pieces as the customers were happy to let me create my own variations after seeing examples of my work.

Sunday, 18 September 2011

Just finished soldering the sections of those wall panels today...
next I need to clean the pieces & remove the oxides
ready to give the bronzed treatment.
I want to create a good contrast on the etched surfaces so need to stock up on wire wool!

Metalwork commission

I've started working on a nice commission for a large panel combination today...

The pieces are all cut & ready for me to start soldering together over the next few days.

I've used a mixture of copper & brass etched pieces which will be treated with a bronzing solution to oxidise the surface of the metals after all of the pieces have been assembled.
