St Mary's Church

Today was another sneaky day off! After a visit to Goodrich Castle this morning we went on to St Mary's Church in Kempley. A beautiful Norman church which has the most amazing medieval wall paintings. These are said to date from the 12th - 15th centuries. Open 1st March to 4th November.

Edwina Bridgeman workshop

As mentioned in my previous post yesterday we took part in a workshop with Edwina Bridgeman at Brewery Arts.  What a fabulous fun & creative day was had by all! Inspired by the current exhibition at the gallery we were lucky enough to have Edwina there to share her skills & ideas (& brilliant materials!)....the variety of designs that each person came up with was amazing.

Using some of gran's buttons                   Rusty shoes!

The little cat....Newspaper/masking tape & wire
   - still needs a bit more work

          A self portrait...?
My completed (almost!) pieces:
(Might add some silver leaf/wings?)

Tim worked in a more 3D way to me....
he had this idea straight away & I think it's lovely especially the little basket & the highlight of colour on the 'fruit'

The Edge of Enchantment Exhibition - Edwina Bridgeman

Yesterday I was in Cirencester at the Brewery Arts taking part in a workshop with Edwina Bridgeman (see next post) as part of the exhibition 'The Edge of Enchantment' at the gallery.
The show continues until 2nd September so there is still time to see it.
The work has been inspired by Edwina's recent move to a small rural village outside Bath & the pieces have been produced in response to the countryside around her.

The work is created from wonderful pieces of 'found wood' & sometimes incorporating rusty metal & other unexpected objects....

My lovely new etching has arrived....
Next week I shall be able to start making some new pieces.
I'm pleased with the feathers - not sure how I shall utilise them yet!
I've had them etched in both copper & brass.

Witley Court

The second part of our day out yesterday was spent at Witley Court & gardens which is only 10 miles north of Worcester but we'd never been before. A fantastic ruin to explore with beautiful gardens & the incredible Parish church.
We decided to join English Heritage so no doubt there will be some more inspiring visits to sites around the uk in the not to distant future....
