I have a little collection of wooden 1970s deer....
but the inspiration for my new brooch design is from another source.
Often when travelling to show at the Cheltenham Art Market on the M5,
I have spotted a single deer in one of the fields adjacent to the motorway.
Whenever I see one I often have a very successful show!
So....the deer has become the 'Lucky Deer' & I always try & keep my eyes peeled now!
Hence I thought I would design a piece of jewellery so everyone had have their own 'Lucky Deer'.....
Once again I have made the master in copper & brass,
a mould will be made from this & he will be put into 'production'...
pictures to follow soon.

Today I decided to get the 'master' mouse made....ready for a new brooch.
I saw pierced the separate components from copper & brass
after I had transferred the design on to the metal. As you can see the image is based on the metal greetings card design I already produce -
Sometimes jewellery becomes a card design & then vice versa.
As often happens the first saw blade lasted for ages...then 'ping' I broke 3 in a row!
I decided to put just a single flower onto the dress & solder the tail
to the arm & ear for strength
Just the features to go now....
Almost ready to go!

I seem to have struggled to settle down to much actual making so far this year....
I have been busy planning shows, designing new greetings cards, decorating the studio, spending too much time on the computer!
However I've prepared several sections to make into panels this week, not using the leafy etching this time but concentrating on more texture & pattern in copper & brass.
As mum sold a triple panel at the weekend I think I need to get cracking....2 shows in April then the Spring Garden Show in May fast approaching!

I had a lovely day yesterday with some creative chums doing some more sketch book work...
it was really just to enjoy the process of making patterns & textures with no agenda.
My 'theme' was loosely based on circles & dots...
I'm not sure if I'll carry the same theme throughout the book but I'm quite pleased with the results so far:
