Block pictures on oak...

Now I've got my studio sorted I'm able to make some work...
These have been planned for a while now ever since friend Roy Dutton supplied me with the oak pieces (actually off cuts from floor boards!) it's another way of presenting my metalwork.  Previously I have painted blocks but I think this more natural finish sets off the copper & brass rather nicely.  I have applied a coating of wax to the oak protects it & also highlights the grain.

Each metalwork piece is unique as it isn't possible to replicate the effects created when soldering/heating the metal.  The details have been etched into the surface then punched & stamped decoration adds more embellishment.  The metal is then lacquered.
The blocks measure approx. 15cm x 15cm each.

On display at the Drill Hall shop....
