Vintage finds...

On Friday we popped into The Furniture Emporium on Upper Tything in Worcester...I know we should really be buying more 'stuff' with our plans to move this year BUT couldn't resist a vintage coffee set (more on that in a day or so...when we have decided where to put it!).
What was just as exciting as the ceramics was the box it came in!! It was wrapped in this fabulous old paper...the colours had faded & were a little crumbled/stained in places but I love the 3 kings design...

However...when I lifted the box up the colours on the base were obviously more like the original finish.  Not sure of the date 1960s perhaps?

Another little find in the same shop was these ceramic cats to add to my collection.  They are not purrrrfect (!) but I really don't mind the little nicks to the ears/tail - gives them more character

Felting fun continues...

We are really enjoying the felt course on Thursday evenings.  I decided to just go for texture this week after my cat design last time.  Technically the felt is not perfect as being slightly inpatient I get a bit bored of all the rubbing & rolling involved ?...hence the felt does not always bond completely.  I'm not too worried about this as I think it adds to the texture (well that's my excuse!)  I may well add some stitches to these panels too...
It makes such a change to be working with such a lovely soft material after hammering & soldering bits of metal all day!

My illustrations...

Last year I drew a few of these little illustrations (sort of a self portrait!)....I seem to have forgotten to do them for a while?  Today I thought I'd make a start again - they won't be everyday but perhaps once a week at least? Depends on what's happening with the weather/cats/studio/life in general!!

I did have an idea for drawings a while ago called 'Pushka's  Presents' as one of the cats kept bringing in little gifts...not the usual birds/rodents thankfully but leaves, sticks, worms & on the one occasion a pair of child's socks rolled up in a ball!

Fort Royal Hill Park

I think I was the only person in the park this morning...felt very quiet after all the activity the past few days - quite a popular place for sledging! Just me & some birds trying to find some food bless them...
The remaining snow was crunchy to walk on rather than the slush yesterday so I took the opportunity to take a few pictures before it all melts.
Even found some splashes of colour on the benches!

Felty Feline

Thursday evening was our second night trying out the felting course at Worcester Arts Workshop. This time we made several pieces of felt in preparation for use on a larger design. Of course I'd already had a cat in mind! Adding some textured wool created more details. When the felt was dry I added some simple stitched to embellish further. Wonder what we will do next time?

Snowy studio...

Just popped over to The Fold this morning. The cafe has decided to remain closed until Tuesday next week. So it looks like I have a long weekend! I have brought some more things home to do honest! Back to normal opening from Tuesday hopefully.

Studio closed...

Although my studio at The Fold was closed today due to the weather I did manage to make a few cards....not a huge production but at least I feel that day was not completely wasted! Not sure about tomorrow's opening yet...will see in the morning.

Frosty seed heads....

Just quickly popped over the road from the studio this morning to snap a few of the lovely seed heads covered in frost...I imagine if the weather gets as cold/snowy as they say at the end of the week I may well be back there again....?

MAD Museum

While we were in Stratford-upon-Avon yesterday we had time to visit MAD, a new museum of mechanical art & design.  Lots of buttons to press, interesting contraptions, noisy, sometimes surprising & good fun!  Well worth a visit & the exhibits will change so we will definitely call in again.  It's quite a small venue but there is a lot to see with some outside exhibits too.

Tim appears to have turned into an alien!
