Verdigris....

I think the Cornish influence in starting to appear in my metalwork....
I have always done a small amount of the verdigris finish on my metal pieces but I'm finding the light really suits the colour down here!  I'm not lacquering these pieces to retain the softness of the surface.  I gently remove some of the verdigris to reveal the copper or brass underneath.

A selection of mounted pieces on oak

NEW individual etched leaves....these have been lacquered to protect the finish (as they are likely to be handled more) - this reveals more of the etched patterns on the copper & brass

Detail of recent wall piece...

Of course there is also the Barbara Hepworth influence....
planning a collection of work, both jewellery & metalwork  inspired by her sculptures (but probably not until next year now...a winter project!)

Vintage card games....

Recently I've purchased a number of old card games...I really like the style of some of the old illustrations.  I don't actually remember some of the games myself?

I've made really nice greetings cards from some of the designs when there are more than one of each but will probably frame some of my favourite images.

Of course The Magic Roundabout was one of my favourite tea time programmes in the 1970s, I still have some items from that era; Annuals etc but I didn't have the snap cards until now!

Hydrangeas

Love the soft colours of the hydrangea which are blooming around Cornwall at the moment....
these colours were all on one plant I saw this afternoon.

Cornwall Design Fair 2013

My first show since moving to Cornwall has been a great success for me...lots of new customers & met some great designers too.  The venue at Trereife House near Penzance is beautiful & the sun shone for 2 of the days out of 3!

I had lovely exhibitors in my aisle including Dan Chapple, Shere Design, Small Wonders Cornwall, Rosie Sutcliffe Glassware & Particle Press & The Thousand Paper Cranes to name just a few....
These are some of my favourite things snapped quickly during quiet moments!
