Open Studios Cornwall part one...

Yesterday was a day out and as I decided not to take part myself in Open Studios this year I had marked several places for us to visit. The first being Jo Kehyaian's venue in Penryn. We are lucky enough to already own a piece of Jo's stunning work (from the Yew Tree Gallery in Morvah last year) but hadn't seen much of her new pieces.  The setting was fabulous - muted colours & a real softness to the space which set off the work beautifully...Venue 180

Down the road in Penryn the The Little Yellow House Studio was also I found a printed t-towel also by Jo Kehyaian.  I've made it into a picture until we add another painting to our collection!
Our next stop was with Heather Frary Venue 147 in Helston.  A gorgeous display of colourful glass along side cermaics by J Mee.  An interesting studio set up in beautiful garden surroundings...

After going back into Helston for a coffee stop we saw several artists in one venue in Church Street, Jan Phethean, Rob Braybrooks, Bob Sharples & Ian Griffiths have a group show.  Well worth a visit...I love the birch relief pieces by Rob Braybrooks
Venue 143

This piece by Jan Phethean was another favourite... Venue 145
Our last visit of the day was to see some metalwork scuptures.  Colin Andrews has a workshop at Cury Crossianes near Helston, which is open all year.  We particularly liked the naturally inspired pieces; cow parsely, bull rushes & seed heads.  So much so that 2 pieces our now decorating our own garden!

Our next day out will be Sunday again...the last day of Open Studios. I have a huge list of artists I want to get round in the Penzance area so fingers crossed!
